Fleas on pets

Fleas and their hosts

Fleas are a very common parasite that feed off our pets by biting them and drinking the blood.  Their saliva can carry disease and the eggs of internal parasites such as tapeworms.

They can also cause allergic reactions known as Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD), which can require treatment using steroid injections and antibiotics.  In severe cases of flea infestation animals have been known to suffer from anemia.

It is important that any pet owner knows how to detect and treat fleas to keep their pets happy and healthy.
